Can't do it in one post and it's quite a story to just put in lexurf convertees so I will have to split it up and put it here.
So yeah…Thought I would post my experience on here. I don’t like to post on much as if I’m honest as the community on here isn't that inviting sometimes. When I do somebody tends to post some sort of smart a*se comment thinking they’re being funny to their little group of mates on here instead of being helpful so I tend to stay away and just read and take advantage of the awesome library of information of surfs on here.
As I've never really introduced myself I’m Daniel from High Wycombe and the owner of Lexurf XII. I’ve owned my surf for a few years now and have been a member on here for quite sometime now popping on and off and since I saw Vince’s work I always wanted a Lexurf like most have and decided to saved up to get it done as I loved the look of his work in the pictures he posts.
Over a year ago I saved up enough and started getting parts and met Vince, He is a real nice guy in person and he showed me through Lexurf IX I believe. Since I met him around November 2013 I decided to go for it and have it done for him to start in March 2014. I bought all the parts and was ready but he had a few issues and got set back until June. When June came around I dropped it off June 25th with all the parts and left him to it. We discussed what I would have done and mine was the most basic of conversions as I only wanted it all standard and nothing fancy and we agreed it would be done by the end of July 2014 as he said it was around 3 weeks work.
Unfortunately this is where things began to take a downward turn as the end of July came and he hadn’t even begun, yet I had given him an advance payment of £600 to cover his bills as he was in trouble. I didn't mind as I loved the work he does and thought he would get it done even if my car was just being sat in the road which I wasn't too fond of as I could be driving something I’m paying to be insured and taxed right? He said he had some steering shaft, cv/ball joint issues on number 10 so couldn't start on mine.
So I left him to it and still heard nothing for quite sometime. I had to keep chasing him via pm as he ignored my calls and emails and had to post in the general forum for him to check his pm’s. Mid October he said he had my car on the driveway now and was going under the “knife” and will post pictures that even. I didn't get pictures for a few days and all I got was some photos of a 2inch lift kit. So in 4 months or so I had just a lift kit done….
As October progressed we did chat via pm while I had to wait 2-3 days for a single response got frustrating, we did discuss a deadline as I had a tripped planned for 15th November 2014 and really needed it by then. So we agreed I would come pick it up on the 14th the day before. He had further money problems and asked for yet another advance payment of £500, as he had progressed with the work I sent it over totaling £2500+ he had from me so far.
I think around the start of November I went to see Dodge here on the forum and bought his Winch bumper from him which looked awesome and just needed a bit of TLC. So I took a trip down to Bristol to collect it and dropped it off at Vince’s to see progress. When I got there the engine wasn't even in as he was adjusting something and he was adamant the truck would be completed by the 15th. I said about my Winch bumper saying if it will delay the build don’t bother with it and just crack on, so I left fairly excited about my new Lexurf I will have the next weekend!

REMOVED URL..Yes that's IX I believe being used as a shelf and not been moved for a year plus since I first met him in November 2013.
As the week progressed he said it was becoming increasingly unlikely it would be done by the weekend. I asked to be updated and heard nothing until the 17th and had to cancel my trip and sit around waiting for a response during the weekend to if I could go get it or not. I was really annoyed and Vince’s poor communication as he refused to answer his mobile, reply to emails and when he is logging onto the forum replying to peoples posts and ignoring my pm’s when I’m paying him £3500 it does raise the blood pressure I tell you that, especially when I've been nothing but polite giving advance payments too!
After missing that deadline which was probably the 3rd? I think I missed mentioning one earlier as it’s taken so long I’ve wanted to forget about this ordeal as it ####ed me off so much. I started to question his work as he said the engine rubs on the bulkhead when he cranks it and has to take the engine out and modify the mounting brackets. Without sound a prick I did ask surely if it’s the same engine on the previous 11 conversions and the engine mounts he makes are the same as the previous 11 they would all be the same?
I got the response In pm’s saying:

No it's not the same as the other 11 I've done, no two conversions are ever the same, if they were there would be conversion kits available wouldn't there?!
Some other issues have now come to light so I'll just contact you when it's ready.*ucked of with the job today, nothing is going right!
I'm not going to answer any phone calls either as it's distracting not always easy to when I'm under the truck or got my head in a wheel arch.
PMs are easier as I can leave th screen on and just click the F5 button to read any messages.
I have stripped and rubbed down your winch bumper ready for polishing like the one on Lex 9, now do I carry on with that or just spray it satin black? it's the difference of 24 hours!
