Recently my 3.0L 1995 surf developed a clattering sound which appears to be inside the engine. Has anyone got any ideas what this may be and how to fix it?
It seems to go away once the engine warms up, could it be the valve clearance is out? How would I adjust this, have looked at threads on...

I just started the surf this morning and noticed although the engine sounds tight and frugal it has a background noise too that give me slight concern!
When cold it has a rattling noise that sounds a bit like intermittently tapping a tea spoon an the draining board lol, I haven't lost...
