Hmmm. Do they rust pretty bad? I've had a fair few old cars that have had basically no rust, Hope the 4runner I'm picking up on friday isn't a rust bucket!

UK 4runners do tend to rust a lot , its due to all the crap we put on the roads over here during winter etc , whereas in Japan they don't put salt on the roads so the vehicles don't suffer as much

Mine had been slathered with waxoyl at some stage, as such it is very good underneath, the rear arches are about the only rust spots now.

Though I have changed the n/sf wing as that was rotten as hell.

Got my 4runner! Went for the petrol v6 and no regrets yet. Fantastic engine on first impressions. Getting 20mpg on a mix of suburbs and b roads which I am very surprised with having heard all the bad press on the v6.

As for rust there isn't really alot by any standard. a bit on the driver side doors but none on body shell or chassis
