So what is the current new Surf available ie youngest model year ?

From my understanding, there is no model eport for a 4th gen surfs in the UK. But I'm not sure of that. No problems importing one into Ireland though.

I think it would be seen as a bit extreme ,moving to Ireland just so I can get a newer Surf ! However it seems a local utilities contractor K.Rouse buys a lot of double cab HiLux from the Emerald Isle as they work out far cheaper than here on the taxed to death mainland !
BTW was the Surf you was shown already over here or was it still in Japan ?

It was still in Japan. Anything they sell in the UK is approx £1500 - £1700 dearer due to customs, SVA etc etc...

10 to 12 weeks seems to be the norm for getting them into the country and getting them road legal I don't think I could stand the suspense !
