Wanted Gen 3 petrol / diesel

Having just has a disastrous foray into Colorado territory (why do they rust and the Surf's don't?), we are now in the market for a Gen 3 again, hens teeth manual preferred but to be honest since the other half will only use it occasionally for towing, we are not fussy which variant it is as long as chassis and mechanics are sound. Kent based but will travel for right car, 2 grand-ish budget tops, thanks, Phil
