  • 2LT engine (or maybe 1KZTE if its feasable to fit)

Unfortunately I need a new engine. Full story in this thread:
    http://www.yotasurf-online.co.uk/pub...ead.php?t=8715

I have a 2nd Gen 1990 with a 2LT engine so either need a replacement or currently investigating if its feasable to fit the 3 litre 1KZTE engine, any breakers have either of these engines?

    Thanks

    1KZTE change

You will need acomplete doner vehicle if you wanted to change to this engine.

      Bob,

Whys that then? I was thinking I would just need engine and wiring/ECU etc
(Not that I don't believe you, just wondered really)

      Thanks

Engine, Exhaust, wiring, ECU, all engine ancillaries, new engine mountings, radiator, not sure if the bellhousing is the same on the gearbox as the 2.4.

You are unlikely to get all of that from someone selling a second hand engine so you would have to spend considerable time sourcing all the parts. Better bet is to get a complete donor vehicle.

        Or....

Go the whole hog and fit a GM V8 diesel. I know I keep on about that engine but it's a peach and would pull down a house without breaking sweat. If you were going to the trouble of changing engine types then why not really go for it.

        Probably silly suggestion.

Best bet is to get your engine rebuilt, you will know you have a good one then.

        Cheers

I think I am gonna go for the new head/engine rebuild option becuase although it will cost slightly more than a new engine at least I know the state of the engine and know that it has a brand new head etc.

For anyone whos interested I called find-a-part on 09069 190266 (£1 per min for a 3-4 min call) and got about 8 people call me up within a few hours offering me used 2LT engines. Prices ranged from about £800 to £1000 (prices including VAT). Some were just block/head/sump and some were complete engines.
