  • New Crank shaft timing gears KZN185

HI I need the timing gears for the KNZ185 3Ltr SSRG 1996, I seem to have shed a gear tooth or two. not sure what ones yet as I have not got the gear casting off yet. I replaced the head two months ago and every thing was sweet as a nut, then I started the enging and a loud bang and a grinding noise from the front of the engine. the cam belt and pully and the head are fine. the engine runs but it is very noisy on tick over and is missing every so often. I think it is one or both bolts have sheared off and gone thought the grears. sounded like a bolt was in loose in the engine. I put it in to a Toyota specalist garage they did some things to it charged me 7
£750, they did not do the timing gears as I asked, they were not happy me telling them what the problem was. So it looks like I will have to do it. any help would be much praised. I live in Chepstow south wales.

Hi all, I had to buy a short block in the end,(eBay) as the garage told me every thing was fixed, NO IT WASNT, they just bodged it up, one week latter on the way back to them , the timing gears really screwed up and stuffed the balance shafts, the new block was fitted and runs well, on the way back from the garage it started to rain, on went the wipers NO BLOODY WIPPERS no washers and the rear electric mirror in locked down.
every thing else is fine, looked every where for anything obvious cant find anything. they have done something, I cant find it aghhhhh....
So any help here would really be grateful

SOLVED the 4x4 electric problem, I have two switches in the centre console, one is for the power under mirror and the other is for the old electric shocks. The electric shocks are no longer connected as I have gas shocks now. I tested the offending fuse for grounding, all was working (strange) all wipers worked but not the power under mirror. So I went all around what I did the day before and nothing hmmmmm, then I sat in the drivers seat and switched on the old shock switch and pop it blow the fuse. ah ah.... I lifted the console out and shit I noticed the two plugs going to the switches were reversed,(one was white and the other is black same as the switches socket) plugged up the wrong way, so I swapped them over and It all worked. WHY THEY had to take the this console out is a mystery it has nothing to do with the engine. I suspect it was deliberate to get me to pay for and other repair ####ERS I am fuming, the work was carried out by Osaka Toyota specialists Newport, I feel so ripped off, I will not be using them ever again keep a wide birth from them
