  • Turbo for 1993 hilux surf 2.4td

My Surf has a blown turbo, need one as soon as. any members have one for sale?. Cash Waiting in South Wales.
Is there any way i can stop the oil going to the turbo to stop the smoke till i get a replacement..Cheers

You could remove the internals and then plug the oil feed pipe...don't block the oil feed with the impellers still in, it will end in tears.

Even then, exhaust gas will make it's way into the inlet via the hole left by the turbo shaft....I think I'd wait and replace it..

Getting it apart is dead easy, FYI: the impeller nut is left hand thread.

Oh nearly forgot, if you do strip it getting the alloy and cast iron housings apart you'll need a vice to hold it and you can't knock the cast iron part round it's mount to loosen it, there are some role pins locating it.

I'll try and find the diagram I used.

Please note, the engine can run on engine oil, so there is some risk driving it. Handily the Surf has a throttle which may stop it revving till it explodes but don't bet the engine on it.

This may help once you know the state of the insides:

...and this may help you get it apart:

                  and this:

The nut in a CT20 needs either a special tool or a pair of mole grips (it's not very tight).
