Has your tailgate glass motor failed beyond repair causing you to replace it? If so I'm after one as I think I may have developed a repair method but need one (or more) to try it out on.

Nice but crude! Same fault but a different and much more robust method. That method will probably result long term in damage to the plastic gear as it removes the shock absorbance against stalling the motor when the window comes to the end of its travel. My method involves replacing the rubber completely with a machined alloy spacer and then installing a current limiter on the supply. It also doesn't take into account the corrosion on the shaft/gear assembly. This also needs machining and sleeving as the corrosion wears away the motor housing allowing the shaft to float. This in turn allows the plastic gear to ride up the worm drive and wear it badly.
Mk1 is already working happily in my Surf but I want another motor to refine the design (primarily the sleeving issue).Last edited by cruiser; 29 September 2012, 08:55.
