Diesel pump for 3rd generation kzn185

Hi everyone...i need a diesel pump for my 3rd generation 96 surf which i have had for 9 years now...i changed the engine last year ..now needs a diesel pump...i bought a second hand pump and when my mechanic put it on ..it now has a terrible knock..so maybe faulty ..someone said about the timing but i believe it only goes on 1 way...the 1st pump i had just wasnt sending now fuel to the engine...but when my mechanic took it off he damaged the pump..so i cant even recondition it...he said its stretched or something..anyway any help would me much appreciated ..as the surf itself is in excellent condition...in the last year i have had a refurbed engine fitted .....all alloys 5 alloys sent away and refurbished thats was £350 alone engine was £1430..body is fantastic...all i need now is a pump..i think ...thanks

He 'stretched' the pump????

Make sure the injector pipes are fitted to the pump in the correct sequence before buying another pump.
