  • steering column

basically at the base of the steering column is a rubber boot that bolts to the bulkhead to stop engine noise and heat coming into the cabin from the engine bay, the question is where can i get one from as mine is nonexistent...

Just spray some expanding foam in the hole but don't turn the steering wheel until it's set hard.

            It does work.
Spray it from the engine side if possible or lay some newspaper down on the carpet first. when it's set just trim the foam with a knife or hacksaw blade to tidy it up. Then turn the steering wheel from left to right to break the bond on the shaft.

He he, I just bought the cheapest floor mat from halfrauds and cut it to fit, but I'm liking the foam solution.

works like a charm!!!! nice one bushwacker i love learning new ways to bodge i'm impressed by the versatility of expanding foam i've used it for loads of other jobs it wasn't designed for but the list of these types of jobs keeps getting longer....

                      Bits 'n' bobs

If you pop over to The Organic Mechanic near Stibb Cross I've got the remains of my doner vehicle if you'd like to pick over it for parts before I scrap it you're more than welcome. The fella who owns the place is a friend of mine called Scot. If you tell him Jae sent you it'd be fine. I know the steering boot is still on it, and the window runners as well. I'll be there Thursday morning if you're free
