  • Blond request....

    No I don't want a blond.....I am one....(from a bottle)
Anyway.... Have been asked to enquire if anyone is, or knows anyone else who is, selling a 16" wheel..... seems the ones touching the floor are BFG's 16/something/285s (Deerfield??) but the one on the back is only 15..

Please don't laugh, i know zip about wheels, someone else looks after them for me. As long as they aren't flat at the bottom they're ok.....

Helen - can you get a few more details? I do know someone selling a 16" wheel, but do you want tyres too???

      Hello Linda,

The ones he's got have this written on the tyre.... LT 265/75 R16 BF Goodrich Radial A/T TA 120 116 O and the middle has Deefield on it.
The spare has 265/70 R15 Bridgestone looks like the standard Surf wheel and looks unused. We'll be stuffed if we get a puncture !!

Just need something the same size for spare
      Greatful for any info...buy/swap

He means you can use a small spare wheel/tyre temporarily if you get a puncture etc. Most new cars come with a shopping trolley wheel as a spare-its just a get you home device. I know what you mean though, my spare doesn't match so I'm just going to cover it with a wheel cover.

What about MOT.... can you get through with different size spare or take it off for test..... it's been through once but don't know what the guy before us did.... probably borrowed one of his other Surf...

                Helen,

Just a word of caution... If you have a LSD on the back (and as you have a 93 SSRX you probably dont as they are mostly fitted on the "limited" versions) then you shouldn't use a different size spare on the rear.

The 16" rims I knew about have gone I'm afraid, but you shd be ok with a smaller spare. You wont go round in circles, one wheel will just turn at a different speed to the other.

MOT no problem as long as tyre is in good condition. Like I said, brand new cars come with really small spare's as a space saver, Its not a problem- If its just the looks, fit a cover.

I'm assuming I don't have LSD ???? what is it...something that was was 'used' in the 60's??? We'll just stick with the smaller one for now. From the replies, doesn't look like it will cause any probs if we need to use or for MOT so we'll leave alone. If we see one later we'll get it just to tidy things up. We'll just hide it for now....
He's had enough spent on him in the last couple of weeks !!!

                    Thanks for all help.

LSD=Lyserg-Säure-Diaethylamid or lysergic acid diethylamide, oh sorry, its not the 60's answer you wanted is it....

On autos, an LSD refers to a Limited Slip Differential. Simply put its a device in the rear (in the case of a Surf anyway) axle to help prevent your wheels from spinning when in slippery conditions.

You know what they say - If you can remeber the 60's then you weren't there anyway. I can - can't have had a very good time - mind you I was only 8 at the end of the 60's not old enough to have had my first trip.

Still Jimi Hendrix and The Doors rule. Plus I love the latest HSBC Telly ad.

Mind you back to the point, you won't have an LSD on a 2.4 unless it is retro fitted.

                            Cheers

I always thought that too, but we saw a 2.4 SSR-X with one a couple of months ago - same little white sticker etc too. May have been after market I guess, but maybe (as with so many things on these cars) an option??
