I got the Halfords standard type for my surf but I wouldn't advise it if you've got large unruly dogs like mine - it took them all of 5 minutes to dismantle it. Now all five of us happily share the drivers seat.

I am just about buy one from www.roofrackshop.co.uk.

They do a Sanders one for the 4 runner . I've measured it up and it should fit a surf. Had a similar one in my old peugot 405 estate and it was fine as long as you did it up tight.
