BOLLOX!!!! Need a 2.4 heater matrix.

Took the heater matrix of my breaker today, as its got a new owner, only to find the damn things aready leaking!!!!!

So I need to use the one out my project truck to fit in Chris's truck tomorrow, leaving me sans a heater matrix for my truck.

So will need one (in the next few months luckily, as it has no dash or motor or axles at the moment)

    Cheers all

        leaking matrix?

        hi guys/girls.

just spotted TonyN talking about heater matrix. I've been told by the nice man at the garage that mine might be leaking too. This is after he put a new head on it. Said water was coming out underneath dash. Have taken surf from garage and seems to be ok, but have by-passed heater anyway(don't want another blown head). getting a bit cold in morning now so should think about getting matrix fixed. Does anybody know how to check matrix without taking out?(sounds like a big job!!!) and also where exactly is it?
        Thanks in advance
By the way its a '92 2.4TD (I know, I know but didn't know about this site when I bought it or would have bought 3 ltr!!)

its behind the glovebox somewhere, and yes its a huge job on a 2nd gen... im putting mine off but im going to wales next Sat for a week so I am seriously considering giving it a go next week... no one wants to lend a hand do they?

if yours is anything like mine was it must have had some kind of rad weld in, when we did a coolant change it unplugged the hole and it leaked from then on! I still have oily carpets now

Hi guys, yep mine did the same after the head went the presure
must have taken the matrix with it.
Drove it for some time but the windows kept fogging up driving
            me nuts.
Lucky ( for me that is ) Tony N replaced it from the one in his
            project truck, all ok now.

They are silly prices from Toyota but they can be recored like
a radiator, a place in Reading will do one for about £70 but
you have to take it out and refit it your self..
Or try one out of a breaker but you never know if it 100% ok
            till you have fitted it.

            Cheers Chris

I thought it was going to be a big job! Never mind i'll just have to roll the sleeves up and crack on!
Its been puzzling me though that since I by-passed the heater the rear heater is still working. I assume its on a different part of the system?
