Definately replace both - if one has failed the other won't be far behind and the difference between a new shock and an old one, even of the same type, will be noticeable.

thanks for the advice, I replaced both with some sturdy regular shocks( not the kind you can switch from hard to soft) and they have done the job nicely

Thanks for advice I,ve replaced both shocks with some heavy duty regular shocks(not the kind you can switch from hard to soft) They seem to have done the job very nicely indeed, so i'm going out now to wreck them too!![
