      Kev,

In view of these comments I have had a rethink and regretfully have decided to drop plans for the ladder.

I had planned to use it to help putting a bike on the roof rack - yeah I m 6 foot tall and still struggle !!!! Now I will go for the portable option and get some caravan steps or similar.

      I apologise for any inconvenience.

        Trev,

a few thought on my part. You can get a tyre step that folds flat. You hook it over the tyre and step up...

I think that Eezi-Awn and Front Runner (clip on side ladder) in South Africa also do steps to gain access to roof tents that may work. These then clip back onto the roof rack, ie. not permanent fittings.

MaggioLina (?) something like that, Italian company that did solid case roof tents had a ladder solution that you clipped on the edge of the rack and up you went... can't find their URL...
