Hey guys - fantastic day out - I'll be back as the man said.

Thanks Danno - the cable ties worked a treat - might even leave it at that - (only kidding). All the mud is caking on nicely now so I'll wear it with pride this week. Might post a pic or two if I can work out how to do it - got a good one with me head up inside the wheelarch

I'm just amazed at what we achieved on road tyres in such conditions - my awe of the Surf is increased. I hope you managed to help Pete out a few tricky situations after I left to even things out - can't have Landys showing us the way!!

Thanks again - really enjoyed it.

    What's the gearbox prob Danno?

    Cheers

    Kev

Looks like it was a good day out. Mrs KS is feeling much better now, so I can take the nurses uniform off. Those black tights make my legs itch!
            It's only a hobby!

                  Sunday mud

                  Looks like you had fun!
                  great mud packs too!
Did you end up going down the road with the red sign saying dont?
Is it normal that 25% end up with funny noises at the end of the trip, ie things break frequently? (need to know how bigger tool kit to bring)[do they make pack away garage lifts?]
Anyhow, couldn't resist trying to play, myself, took the wife and two kids up into the mountains, were I thought I could go, there were signs saying offence {bummer} but managed to find a real [unused] green lane, 30deg hill, rough stone/mud, wet, 4' walls of embankment and tree trunks, 8" ruts, and only 6" clearance each side, oh and brambles scratching the paint off all the way up.
And you call this fun??? lol, nearly crying over the noise the brambles were making!!!

Also managed {by accident} to take a cattle grid, on a hill, but cattle grid flat {so couldn't see it}, at 40MPH, and cleared it completely, that woke the wife up!

                  Is this normal?

                  Am I mad?

Or am I just one of you guys?

Can't wait join up with you all next time!

if I havn't frightened you off!
Lifes for smileing at! when ya Surf's not broke!

It seems to dislike changing up. A bit like a slipping clutch. Its fine on the downshift, so I'm off to my local auto box specialists in a minute. Now this is going to cost shed loads!!!

Good pics though guys! That incline I got stuck on, doesn't look half as bad in the photos! The shame, getting recovered by a (not so)Lame Rover. Never going to live this one down.

Get used to that one. Mine normally take 2 days to clear themselves! I must admit, it was an eventful outing.

Now you all know why I keep to the byways and MOD graded roads! <note - must buy knobbly tyres soon>. At least the landwarden was a goodguy. Even though he shadowed us all the way across the plains. Thats the problem these days, too many idiots, tearing around, with little or no recovery kit or a clue about where and where not to go. It ruins it for people like us!

Must contact someone about an event on the MOD's cross country driving area CCDA. Last week it was a AWDC meet and yesterday a MotoX meet. If they can do it then I'm sure I could organise a "Surf Club" day out?

Great idea about the MOD off road track. At least we can be there legaly, that would shut the land wardens up !
