What manufacturer of roof tent did you have? Was it canvaa or synthetic? These might make a difference.
No differance in the two with regard to what he said. He does not like them...others do and travel around the world with them. I told you synth drys quicker. I never had problems inside the tent and if it's windy it makes a noise..if you have not worked that out I suggest you HIRE one and go away or a week.

It's a tent on a car...if you have been camping its the same, only higher up.
    .... Which was nice.

Thanks or the sarcastic response! The reason I'm asking so many questions is because it's a lot of money to spend without doing some research. Just because someone has a different opinion to you doesn't make them wrong, hence why I wanted to clarify some details. I appreciate your feedback but there's no need to get shirty because I asked for a second opinion.

Just goes to show how things can be read differently.

The two different opinions comment was agreeing with you and the other post, recognising how hard it is to make choice.

Hence the next suggestion to HIRE a roof tent and not spend the money!

The last comment about camping, but higher up was a stab at humour....

So get on with it, and don't worry, I won't bother posting again...wish I hadn't wasted my time in the first place.

Once in the desert don't expect peaceful nights when it's windy, the flapping sides ensure a very noisy night. I couldn't wait to sell it when I got back after 2 months. My next trip to Mongolia will see me sleeping in the back no matter what I have to leave at home. Also think of security, if you need to leave in a hurry, you can't while the tent is extended. Try one out before you part with alot of money you might regret spending.

              I am amazed,,,,,,,,,,truly.
I have had my Terrain roof tent for a number of years.
We have done France, Spain, Morocco, I can't report any thing as unfortunate as you have had.

Overall, the roof-tent is a great idea, wouldn't be without it.
We can open it, and have it ready for climbing inside in as little as 5 minutes.
              Putting away, say,,,,,,10 minutes.
              It is the synthetic material.
Perhaps we have been fortunate, and have had no problems with condensation as you have spoken about.
