  • Pics and Vids from W/E in wales

hi all all managed to survive the weekend off roading with out too much going wrong, a couple of tight lanes gave the trucks a few scraps etc. Also managed to use the winch and test the bumper etc and all went well as we all got stuck and had to winch everyone out in turn!

thanks to mat, bob and H for a good weekend and will definately have to do it again this year! still have a few good lanes still to try!

below is a few pics and vids of the weekend still have to upload the route from GPS and more vids so keep checking the thread!

here is the route we took on saturday with of start and finish points of lanes. i think it can only store one trip at a time then have to down load it as turned it on sunday but cant find the route on it! but the lanes are covered in pervious threads

Pics look great!! You must of done the wayfarer if you were in Corwen?

*edit* doesn't look like the carwash at Corwen actually?

Yeah it was good! Lots more vids to upload! It was the car wash it was in Corwen just north or wayfarer! The vid is from the field to the gate! Must have been low as Mat was going on how deep it can be and youtube vids of cars being washed away! Once uploaded the GPS can see where the ford was and if it is the carwash!

First time I have done the wayfarer! Bit by the house start / finish is a bit tight and fun but they have moved all the sleepers so its just a nice ride out!

Thanks to everyone involved in making it such a good weekend, really looking forward to next one! The wayfarer was worth seeing, maybe not the most challenging lane but definitely worth doing even just for the scenery! Every 4x4 should have a winch, it would have made our lives a lot easier on previous trip if we had one!

I'm pretty sure it was the carwash that we went through, I have not done it before but I have seen it many times on youtube and I also got the directions off the LR forum (not a member btw), it was left at the traffic lights after the bridge by corwen. It does look very different when the water level is low like when we went through it, here is a link to a vid of a jeep getting it horribly wrong.

Yea that's the carwash..looks different on the vid, probably more overgrown than ive seen it. Last time I went through it was pretty deep, there was a little 'dip' to the right halfway through and the water was almost through the drivers window..MOT next week with any luck

the vids were recorded in HD recorder so they are MP4 format but that shouldnt matter i thought they were decoded by youtube but i cant play them on my work comp. i think you may need real player on you computer as i cant watch the vids in windows media but i can in real player . i might be talking @#?> but thats on my computer and i can view them and its not on my work comp and i cant.

Just watch them from there, once they are on youtube the playback is flashplayer based, so if youtube works for you normaly then so will these.

                    Great vids btw

                          I'll get flamed here:

Pains me to see those green lanes in such a state, rendered impassable for motorbikes, push bikes, horses and walkers by all the cars.

I'm not anti 4X4 but in this kind of soft, wet mud they rip it to pieces.

                          Sorry.

There are plenty of bridal ways and walkways which we are very careful not to use, it's not like we are tearing up the country side. Also the lanes that get torn up because they are wet and soft would not be used by push bikes, walkers or horses as they would be too boggy, these are often very over grown or don't get very much sunlight and in the winter they are like rivers, so there is not much of an insentive for sight seers use them. Motorbikes might not cause much damage but the large groups that they ride in and also the speed at which they ride I would imagine can't be very nice for walkers or horses. We have had no problems with the locals or any farmers, in fact the opposite, we have even had farmers offering to open and close gates for us or just stopping for a chat.

I for one do not lose any sleep over this, there is more than enough room in North Wales for everyone to enjoy it, have a look at an OS maps and you will see.
