  • green laning north wales possible routes

hi all i have been collecting green lane routes through a number of websites and have put them all togather on a PDF plan of north wales (all very technical!) link to the download below, its 4.5MB PDF, its just a big google maps with lanes on it done in autoCAD if anyones interested! take a look them and let me know if any of them are open closed or other wise.

there seems to be a good few and if get a few surfs to go then a good day out!

Thanks for doing all the hard work Danny! When I first got the surf I started looking up all the green lanes in the North Wales but got bored very quickly. I won't have the money for Bala this weekend so I might go find a couple of the one close to me.

I see you used different colours for the routes, is there a reason for this?

    Thanks again!

Hi Mat the red routes are the byways and the brown and I think a few grey ones are the undefined roads! When I phoned the council up to say what are the roads with the green dots they said they are paths / roads on private land but the owner has given permission for public to go on it either foot only or motorised as well so its hit and miss if you can drive on them but the ones below according to green lane web sites are OK. I do a bit of walking so I have walked a few to see if there are signs etc and there are none so they must be open to all traffic some do have pedestrian only sign so I have taken them off the map!

If you fancy it this sunday let us know!?

I have mapped a route near the Chirk and Llangollen, looks like there is 8 lanes to try out and it is not far from from me. Me and the mrs were planning on going on Sunday, going to take the dog along as I'm sure there are some nice places to walk him. If you fancy it we could meet up at the McDonalds in Chirk on Sunday morning.

Hi Danny, they are off your map at the bottom right hand side - near the A5. The macs is on the round about where the A5 and A483 meet - LL14 5AZ. I don't have a CB unfortunately, my mobile is 07711691491. What time is best for you? I'm only 20 minutes from there so it's completely up to you.

Should be good fun, we have a lot of rain forecast for the next few day!

Hopefully some other surfers will read this post and want to come along - the more the merrier!

Hi Danny, 10am sounds good to me - I'm also having a couple on sat night. On google maps it says the route I have planned will take about an hour and half not including the lanes, so we might have enough time to venture north a bit.

You have a point Cal! Apparently some guy died last night in south Staffordshire when a tree fell in his car, they have forecast this weather until after Sunday as well, might be worth taking a chainsaw with.... could get some logs for the log burner at the same time

yeah should be able to venture north but see what we get thorough and the time you have available! yeah a bow saw or something like that might actually be useful!

i will give you a call tomorrow afternoon sometime to finalise everything! if you have a set of walkie talkies that would be good as you dont have a CB but not a problem if not mobile phones and shouting will surfice!

dont worry i will bring the map, it is A1 size if you print it out which is 8xA4 size! i will print one off for you too for you to keep

it is fairly simple the hardest thing is where to mount it! and running the wire from the antenna to the CB its self! sure you will be able to sort it!

normally we go on channel & but will get it all sorted when i meet you at Macs at 10am tomrrow! just doing some bits and bobs give you a call in about 1hr!

just uploaded some pics from today! found some new lanes which were great and put bala woods to shame! only managed a few of them as kind of got a little lost half way through but all the ones we did were great and quite challenging! some pics below of the lanes! big thanks to Mat for partnering and coming along!

Cal you were right we did need a bow saw as the last lane we did have a tree blocking it and we had to reverse out!
