Any off roaders/green laners in the Torbay area? I've just bought a surf & would like to give it a go, I'm a complete novice so plenty of help & advice required please.

    Cheers

Thanks richard but it is a little out of the way for me, I have spinal damage so need to take it easy, one jolt can lay me up for weeks, I'd like to have a go at something gentle locally just in case I hurt myself.

      Cheers

have a chat with supersurf and sv1000pilot as they are both from Plymouth and will take you out on some mildish lanes at some point.I know of a few down here that are very mild but i will soon be going out to recce a few more so i can arrange a weekend laning trip

Don't talk to me about that damn Toad alarm it was a right git, the alarm & immobiliser wiring was easy, it was just the central locking part that was causing the problem, the funniest part of that final wiring day was my dog, I opened the drivers door to drop the panel off to get to the central locking control box, I went to the shed to get some tools & when I got back the dog was sat on the passenger seat, I don't know where he thought we were going, I carried on with the wiring & he curled up & went to sleep.

I did notice a few members were going off roading/laning over Totnes, I'll keep an eye out for their next venture.

            Cheers

Hi Ian, I've recently managed to get to a few green lane outings with some of the other Surf owners from up here in the North East.

The thing is I haven't been on one green lane yet where the Surf doesn't hit some rock or pothole that doen't jar your spine. Most green lanes are basically hardcore based and the surfaces are uneven. I would be extremely careful if I were you if you have any form of back damage, talk to someone local if possible before tackling any off road routes.

Thanks scorpion, maybe I could modify the drivers seat to take the shock out, I don't want to not do it just in case, I'd rather adapt things so I can do it.

Do you guys do anything special to your vehicles before going off road or are they pretty much standard? mine has been lifted & has a sump guard but that's about all.

                Cheers

One option could be to fit a bucket seat an harness.

Would be harder to get in an out the damn thing but you would be literally strapped in place.

Im sure there are some more mellow tracks out there you could just drive an enjoy without risking damage to your truck an more importantly yourself.

mine at the moment has been lifted 5" and on 33" tyres but i have just bought some 38.5's and will soon be lifting the truck by 9" in order to fit the 38's so it should look really good once finished

alot of the lanes down this way are really mild and some that are a little bumpy but not to bad tho.
I'msure sv1000 and supersurf know some good mild lanes around your area

I think I should start on some gentle tracks first then decide where I want to go from there, I'll know once I've done some how much my back will stand then I'll know what tracks I can or can't do.
I still have a harness from my banger racing days so fitting that is an option, a bucket seat would make getting in & out more difficult & the reason for buying the surf in the first place was to make it easier for me to get in & out of a vehicle plus the mass storage space for a wheelchair & mobility scooter, I can get about but just can't spend too long on my feet.

I've no idea how much of a lift mine has had, how can I tell? the tyres are 31 10.50 x 15 but the front 2 need replacing.

                          Cheers

This is how it looks at the moment although I don't have the rest of the nudge bar.

just looking at that pic it looks as if it may have a 2" lift fitted on the rear and the front hasn't been lifted at all via the torsion bars, but it still looks a nice truck tho.
31x10.5x15 is a standard size without any lift.
