Just heard that motor vehicles are to be banned from the Ridgeway! On the local news!

Not sure if it's from this October or next! I was up there last week and it was 90% used by farm and agricultural vehicles!!

    How will they manage?

    Cheers

easy, because 90% of farm vehicles and the trailers they pull arent even roadworthy, no one stops them on the road and neither will they up there

It was p****ng down with rain when I was up there, I hadn't intended to, but got LOST(NO!!) in Letcombe regis and just ended up there.
Well it would be rude not to have a look. As I was on my own , It was wet (and have a broken leg!) I thought I better not try any thing too adventureous! Thought it would be a bit irresponsible to ask Rusty to rescue me from that far away!

The ground was pretty good for about a mile or two either way of letcombe regis, good chalk track and good drainage but soon changed so i went back and up behind the white horse hill. That was good too!

In an hour and a half I only met one landrover who came out of an a joining farm!

        No Raves that day!

        Cheers

It's just in the winter months apparently effective next October (2004), in line with a lots of other tracks. And it only applies to 4x4 and motorbikes. Apparently there are exemptions for local farmers etc.

That's not too bad, It can get a mess in the winter! I have been fortunate enough to have walked it in the past and gone end to end in a swb landcruiser
and imho that's a fair compromise for the Ridgeway.

Is that right though It's only 4x4's and bikes?

I saw a local video of walkers on the Ridgeway and just as the camera panned around I saw an open top MGB doing it's stuff along the track!

Now that is going to upset a lot of 4x4 owners!!

            Cheers
