My mate John phoned to say, that he has lost 5 teeth out of his front diff, luckily he has his rear diff from his old axle to swap over.

I think I will camp Fri night and drive the Sat. Depends whats going on the Sat night I might stay for beer and BQ but I doubt I will drive again on the Sunday.

Hope to have it up and running by the end of next weekend, ready for the forest drive at Lochgilphead on the 29th and 30th. There was water mixed in with the grease in the swivel housing on the passenger side, so I have just ordered all the parts, so will start to strip it on Friday night after work, should be able to get most of the hub off, and swivel housing, just left with the seven bolts that hold the swivel onto the axle, that haven't moved in 19 years.

Going up to John's tomorrow to help him with the diff, and fit new power steering belt and fan belt to the 90, see if that makes a difference to the squealing though I doubt it.

Well I managed to break a front half shaft at Lochgilphead today, so the landy will be off the road for a while, probably the next few weeks at least

It's just that we drive them properly off road, that's what their there for. If you have a look herehttp://forum.landrovernet.com/showth...81931&page=211, this is what the half shaft looked like last weekend when I took it out to change my swivel housings.
