    Hello,

As Sarn Helen is shut there has been a change to the route. Details of the route will be posted on the 6th April (we have to recce part of it on the 5th). We will be starting near Hay on Wye as this is a fairly central location for everyone to get to.

In the meantime I have provisionally booked us into The Hollybush Campsite Hay on Wye - http://www.hollybushcamping.co.uk

This is for the Friday 2nd May.

Crap website but the 22 acres of flat farm and woodland sounds great, with 1/2 mile of river frontage. We can stay in the woods or on the field.

There is a pub on site.

I have hired their big BBQ (£15) and a wheelbarrow full of wood (£10).

Camping is £6 per person, £3 per child, trucks and tents are free. The owners sound lovely and (when warned of us lot) were happy to book us in.

      Thanks Andrew

We are very happy to chip in for the BBQ

Do I need to do anything re booking the site before hand, or is it just turn up?

In the woods! In the woods!!!

Takes me about 30 mins to get there from home I reckon. Will be hard to forego a nice warm bed and full english brekkie for a night of drunken debauchery with you lot though...

I have made a block booking - no need to do anything other than turn up

I think £2 per truck would cover the BBQ + logs.

BTW - the owner said we could make a camp fire out of the logs. They sell it by the (very) full barrow load to stop people chopping down the trees. How cool an attitude is that??????

During the recce on the 5th we will be calling in to meet the owners and sus out the site. Will keep you updated.
I love this site and I ani't ever been there lol

Oh my God, how funny is this.I have been reading reviews of the Friday campsite here - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/re...asp?revid=4562

then I came across this one - oh, the youth of today -

Absolutely mint! We are a group of 18-20 yr old lads who found it hugely difficult to locate a site that would accept a group of young men, this campsite was particularly accomodating and had nothing but time for us. We found the site completely by accident after setting off first thing in the morning from west yorks with the intentions of going to scotland. Then found out my dopey friend had programmed into his sat nav an address for the wrong 'Hollybush Inn' in a completely different country! Still, the site is in a great place, we had tons of fun, we have yet to fully experience the pub on site, but will definitely be doing so this friday when we visit again. Our trip to the Hollybush Inn is becoming somewhat of a reunion for us, a trip we intend to take annually. Our first trip to the site was, I think the other guys will agree, one of the most hilarious times of our lives, as massively in experienced campers, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong, but that was half the fun. Yes, the amenities are minimal, and a bit run down, but who cares? It's better than going behind a bush! my friends and I loved this place, and even though it always chucks it down and we get soaked and muddy, it's hilarity at it highest! If you intend to go for a relaxing weekend break, probably not the best site for you, but for a great time and atmosphere, with laid back rules, this is the best around!

                              Camp site sounds great

What can be better than the Strata Florida? I went back there in Feb, there wasn't much of the trail we didn't finish when we got rained off.
