  • North West Green Lane Run

2nd April (sunday) green lane run around Holmfirth, the northern most part of the Peak district.
As the run one way should be a max of 4 hours, I propose doing this one way then return the opposite direction.
I am going to reccy this one on Tuesday or wednesday (21/22) this week so would anyone else care to join me, this would also mean learning the route and being able to lead a group if numbers for the 2nd April are high.
Good axle twister and stone steps on the start/finnish and, if weather permits, there should be some good photo opertunities.
There is nothing too chalenging even for virgin laners so for a family day out, put your name down!!!

Also, for those of you who want a practice trying out your four wheel drive and learn what your car can do, there will be another haslingden moor romp early in May (I would do end of April but I'm on a stag do the last weekend so wont be fit for anything).

                Hi guys,

Would like to come out on a beginners ride out as not done much and am new to driving smurf off road.

Its a bog standard smurf which I am just fitting a body lift kit to this weekend and new rear springs, apart from that standard with spare under car.

                Can I play, can I, can I.

                Cheers guys

                  Hi Andy,

You has da same kit as me apart from mine has some useless smeg behind the wheel, (body lift and new rear springs).
Your more than welcome m8, and dont worry, this lane is supposed to be Fine even in somthing like a fro***ra. (like how the bad language filter recognises a real swear word).

And Damn Chris/jess, you will both be missed big time, dont know what a north west meet would be without you (borrow the jimmy, she wont notice if you get it back befor night fall).

Have you got any dates in mind yet in May for the haslingden moor romp, I want to look in the diary and book it in with the much much much better half.

Shame I have just taken the Blizzard tyres off, they were really chunky, have got some AT's on now which will not be as good off road. (Blizzards had to go as compound was like bluetack and super slippy on the road, even in the dry when hard braking - Pant filling when in motorway traffic and the blerk in front suddenly slams on....Pharp.....)

Anyhow, we shall see how the rubbers do, Anybody got a list of essentials to get together for a romp out - AKA - I have no kit at mo and want to see if I have anything usefull in my unit I could bring along.

The AT's will be more than capable for green lanes m8.

Food and drink is the most essential bits, good strong tow ropes are handy but the rest of us carry them. Two way radio, but again most of us carry a spare or two. You will need good boots and wear jeans that you dont mind getting covered in she-ite, if we are lucky enough to find mud. The only other thing is over half a tank of juice, as low ratio usage can burn a lot of it off if too heavy footed.

Sounds great, will bring some gear with me and I have a set of two way radios that I bought from Tandy a while ago. Would put the CB in as well if needed.

Will bring a full tank of motion lotion as very heavy footed and pants at driving off road, but hey hoe you have to make a fool of yourself before you can laugh at others making a fool of themself.

Will wait until date confirmed before I book my trip to france then as was planning around that time. No probs as waiting for another guy to confirm and he may take a couple of weeks to do so.

Just bought a cordless helmet cam so may strap it onto front roof bar for a bit of footage. LOL me getting stuck. LOL.

                            Lookin forward to it.

5 Cars is a good number as it means only one party and not splitting up into groups.
