    re drive around day

    Hi
spoken to organizer today, and mentioned im a member of the toyota site, and asked if he would be prepared to give a discount if we could get more members to go on one of the days out, will give 10% if we can fill a slot of six vehicles, i know its not much but better than nothing. Asked him about the day and it seems to be very challenging, and if there's obstacles you think are to much there is bypass lanes. Anyone at all interested ? I was thinking of going on the 30th december.

Fella's - James Trembath organises a great day out - been several times and organised groups from Plymouth. There aren't too many escape routes as you say.

          hi jimpics
yes spoke to james and he said if anything looks abit to much for you, you can bypass it, i only have a bog standard gen3, and just wanted some light 4x4 stuff, few hills and declines maybe some shallow puddles and mud. last thing i want is to be damaging the body of my new acquired gen3. i will aslo have my bro coming with me so wanted to show him surfs are good and can cope " he works for landrover" few years ago he brought a 110 defender over and we took it to a local site, must say there wasnt anything it wouldnt go up all come down. did you suffer much damage jimpics ?

            damage

Just a dent when winching an L200 out!! - I wedged my surf against a tree!

My Surfs are used most weekends for offroad events - they are working vehicles so dents and scratches are inevitable. Visit my website, I am sure I could offer you guys a great day/weekend out in and aroumd the Devon & Cornwall border. Surfs are very capable in the right hands, often completely surprising Land Rover drivers where I get mine!!

Arka, if you want to go offroading why don't you just join a off roading club? There's loads around the country, cost on average £20 year to join, have monthly laning days all over the country, regular pub meets, are a plethora of information, members love helping out to fix/replace broken parts, and cater for just about all types of 4x4 user. I'm a member of the http://www.bworc.org.uk/ maybe a bit far for you but shows you what you can expect from your average club.

If you want my honest opinion and your vehicle is also your daily driver forget about the water for the time being I will get on to that in a mo' do you really want a load of scratches down the paint work? some of the entry and exit points are not really surf friendly (big over hang at the rear will not help) if you have aux lights mounted low they will suffer,if you have a tow hitch that will act like a plough.

If it is as wet as it is in the vids and unless you have a snorkel and are on good terms with your local car valet service stay out .

Having said all that with some careful driving and some decent tyres, and some strops and some wellies your surf will cope however mud tyres lift kits winches tubular bumpers are all sold for a reason.

If your guide is any good they will point out the dangerous, scratchy, deep bits before you get into too much trouble.

                      Offroad/Greenlane Events

One of the reasons for taking a guided tour whether it be greenlanes or private forests/land - is that the the guide can formulate the route to suit the participants!

                        Exmoor Today

                        Matt,

Here are pictures taken on Exmoor today.

Tracks are wide but steep and exciting, testing truck ,tyres and drivers. If you want it more challenging there are narrower rutted tracks and bombholes to tackle!

The photo's dont do the steep descent or sheer drops by the sides of the tracks justice!

                        Jim

                          hi jim
cheers for the pics, looks far better then having a wheel in the air and scraping the side of your 4x4 along the side of an embankment. will at some point look into coming out for a day or weekend, hopefully it might get a bit dryer in the coming months.
