I would come as its right near me but currently the Surf is having serious overheating problems and I suspect the dreaded "head-crack" (or worse) so not sure if my truck is going to be fixed by then or not.

Cod, loads of advice here about that, and other possible causes. Try a search of old threads. Might just be the rad cap & thermostat

Yeah, thanks I have been looking at past threads, I think it is something serious though, already had the radiator re-cored twice after blowing it up, replaced the thermostat, replaced the water pump. Not replaced the rad cap but it is releasing pressure into the expansion tank when it overheats so I am assuming thats o.k. Tried the test that apparently checks for head crack (run from cold for 5 mins then stop and take off the rad cap to check for pressure) and I had loads of pressure in there which apparently indicates exaust gases getting into the cooling system.

Anyway, apologies for threadjacking - getting off-topic here!

hehe, Jonah, he's been here since the old forum, and most people here have used his website for some tech or the other. He knows plenty about cracked heads.
