As I remember it is left forward 2H , back across right forward 4H then forward more for 4L .
Put it this way if the stick only clicks forward once that will be 2H and the other side is the 4wd selection (if that makes sense)

Has it still got the Jap carb? Fuel cut off solenoid?

My bruv had a problem with his. It cut out when it got warm and there was no spark when hot. Let it cool and the spark came back. The coil was going open circuit when the engine got hot!!! There was a dry joint on the primary when I got my hacksaw out and did the post mortem.

Took a disliking to the fuel shut off at Wiltracks and 'munched' it with pliers so fuel was going through all the time . It some times fires when the ignition button is just released which may also indicate low coil voltage .

Sorry to say this but I can't make it due to non running zook and having to take the gear box off the surf on monday to do the rear oil seal(don't want to have to work round all that pit mud!!)
