  • Salisbury Plain Training Area Newsletter October 2012

Roads through Imber will be open on the weekend of the annual St Giles’ Church service, however
as a concrete platform to enable tanks to manoeuvre across the road is being built at the Joan a
Gore Cross entry point, the Imber to Joan a Gore Cross road will not be open to vehicles but walkers
and cyclists, with care, will be able to pass around the outside of the road works.

    TRAINING
October will be a relatively quiet month with a number of smaller (sub-unit) exercises taking place
over most of the Plain. Air activity will be greatly reduced from the high levels experienced in
    August.
The Territorial Army and various cadet forces will also take to the field having been displaced by
Mission Support Training for Afghanistan. HQ Royal Logistic Corps TA will run logistic convoys
across much of the Plain during the first week of October but these will be on a much smaller scale
    than those experienced in August.
    There will be late firing on Larkhill Ranges on: 2nd, 4th, 6th, 9th, 11th, 16th, 18th, 23rd, 25th, 30th Oct.
