  • Folding Camper for sale

Not sure if this is the right place to post this? But, we have just bought a caravan and desperately need to sell our Conway Crusader Folding Camper.
Our Surf tows it a treat. In fact, you don't really notice that it is on the back.

Anyway, the camper is a 2003 model, 6 berth, has full electrics, gas cooker, grill and hob, toilet compartment, 3 way fridge, external shower, full awning with bed skirts.

Offers around £7000 (very few available, cost from dealer near £8000)

If interested, please contact Gary or Lisa on 01633 411952 or 07903 780341

    Many thanks

Didn't think your Crusader would hang around long. We shifted our 1999 Cruiser at the asking price in March. I guess we asked too little. First viewer was hooked and didn't even haggle. Even sent us piccies of their first trip away. Sweet!

        Nice one Phil.

Sods law though!!!! We sold the Crusader for a little under what we paid then on the same day, we had positive queries from people offering well over.

I guess, you can't ever win but at least we've got the payment now for the caravan.

        Cheers

          Towing

Gary, if your Surf is an Auto then as you are moving up to a caravan from a trailer tent you might want to consider fitting a transmission oil cooler as the van is likely to be a whole lot heavier than the Conway and will put more strain on the torque converter.

I'm sourcing the parts to do mine at the moment as mine overheated quite badly last weekend pulling the caravan up a hill. I also think my viscous cooling fan isn't working right either so I'm going to sort that as well whilst I've got the front off the Surf. That should hopefully sort any overheating problems.

I towed our Abbey County Dorset (probably around a ton laden) from Luton to Somerset a week last Saturday and back again last weekend, on a bloomin' hot day, with no ill effects. We went both ways without a break. It was four and a quarter hours in stop-start traffic on the way down (Hammers and Crystal Palace fans on way to Cardiff). The return journey was a 2Hr 50Mins (ave' speed 60MPH as I was following an Irish registered artic, which of course was restricted to 56MPH although my speedo was reading 70MPH, so I guess mine must be wrong )

I'm wondering how much of this overheating is due to thermostat problems? Even towing up the long hauls towards Bristol on the M5 northbound the temp never lifted above a third into the normal range.
Yesterday I decided to do some maintainence and hose the salty beach sand off the truck (don't go wading in the sea). I rinsed a load of sand and clay from both the upper part of the rad and the bottom transmission cooler portion.
            Mines a 2.4L.

              Mike/Phil,

We will monitor the thermostat religously on our way up to the Highlands tomorrow....unfortunately, I have been very busy at work this week being audited and haven't had time to look at this forum. So apologies for not responding sooner.

Fingers crossed and I am sure we will get there and back safely.

I must have been having a brainstorm when I said thermostat problems. I meant fan problems. Of course if the thermostat was the problem the engine would get hot whether towing or not.
