Ah , memories !!!
My first classic was a 1951 series 1 1600cc petrol Landie . Was owned by the East Sussex Fire Brigade . Full canvas back , tilt screen and Fire Engine red .
Great fun as I restored it as best I could on apprentice mechanic money .
Did snap a rear diff crown wheel !!
I have a picture somewhere .

1st 4WD I drove was the recovery truck that we used at the garage I used to work at. Series 1A, 2.25 petrol, only 2 forward gears that worked and about 4 inches of play in the steering. Still it never let us down (didn't have enough power to snap halfshafts) and would pull pretty much anything out of anywhere on Crossply tyres that were probably 15 years old when I drove it.
