  • New 2.5" Exhaust (Video/Sound clip)

Got this built for me today. It's 2.5" from the flexpipe back, with no muffler. Mods are in the description.

Embedding didn't seem to work, but there's the link to the video.

Very nice! a big pipe makes even a 2.4 sound good, i have a 3" one(not bragging tho) it does sound good with the passenger windows down,
didn't you fancy takeing it right up to the manifold?
Too young to die and too old to give a toss

I originally wanted 3" but the shop didn't feel comfortable flaring it out that much. They also didn't want to do the 90 degree bends under the transmission with 2.5" pipe. Later on I may take it to a performance truck exhaust shop and get them to complete the exhaust right up to the turbo. This was done by a friend that works at a tire/exhaust shop, and they don't really do anything too crazy. They're used to just replacing rusted out factory exhaust.

How did it affect you mpg, Now the engine has no back pressure? My back box has broke off and my mpg has dropped massively!

All engines are very different,my 2.4 lost 65klm of range on a tank of fuel, tested on the same run 4 times from Durham to Torquay, same speeds and so on,my 3.0 split its back box off 4 weeks ago now, and doing the same run as I do every day for the past 8 months from reading to frensham, I'm using about a £5a day more?
I've tonight replace the whole system so I will let you know after a weeks running, but im sure I'm down on power and mph!

The worst thing for a turbocharged engine is back pressure in the exhaust.

You're using more fuel because the boy racer in you likes the sound of the turbo whistling so you rev it more.

And where's my little boy's Porsche and Mercedes badges?

I've been working a lot and only driving the short jaunt to and from work so I don't know what difference it made in mileage. It does have some more snap and turbo whistle now. I don't actually hear the exhaust when I'm driving, my turbo and homemade intake are all I really hear.
