That should be the correct one for your truck Carl.

What is your axle code on the VIN plate?

This will show my total lack of mechanical knowledge

I was looking at it for the rear diff ?

I was thinking I should get it fitted before the snow comes and also planning on a Morocco trip in 2013

        Have I made a complete ar$e of myself ?

The axle code, the numbers next to the bit that says, Axle code.

i wouldn't put a permanent locker in the rear if your'e doing a lot of overland driving - they are designed for rough terrain and can be noisy and give strange handling on tarmac. read up on them before you order it.

an lsd in the back and a locker up front would be a better choice for a long trip on mixed road conditions.

                      .
Especially on snow and ice. They are a good budget option, but do have flaws. There are a few fitted on Surfs on the forum. You are better off with them in general than without when offroad, BUT seeing as you mentioned the snow, with both back wheels spinning equally you will have NO sideways control of the truck. Any camber on the road will just end up with you sideways (the front pulling helps a little when in 4wd). An open diff will mean one wheel will not spin, and you have much more control in a straight line.

A tight LSD in my 4Runner was a PITA (in context, obviously, still better than any car) in the ice compared to the open diffs in our Surf for just driving around in the snow.

Personally I'd save for a manual locker in the rear every time.

I run a rear lockrite in the Jimny, they make very little noise if fitted correctly.
The Jimny drives to and from events normally no more than 100mile round trip

I would however not recommend one for a truck you drive every day, for all the reasons Tony gave and because once you see the clutch set up you would agree they have a shelf. In a truck doing a couple thousand to events no issue, on a road truck doing ten thousand a year. Save for the air locker.

If I only had one locker of any type I would always fit in the rear.

There are some pics of the lockrite being fitted in my Jimny build thread.

Thank you all for the very useful input. Yes it is my day to day drive, I probably do 20,000+ a year so looks like I need to go along the ARB locker route.

                          Many many thanks

the arb is the way to go if you want a locker

i went for lsd as the last thing i want is more electrical/air operated stuff that can go wrong. you'll get 2 detroit lsd's for the price of 1 arb - suits me as i don't do much offroad.
