  • Recovery points

i have done a search here, and over yonder and come up with nothing...

i thought i saw a drawing for a plate to bolt to the chassis to accept a shackle before on one of the forums but cant find it now, or has one of you got a drawing i can hand into my metal fabricator to chop up for me.....

i am basically looking to bolt the on to the base of the bullbar, where its bolted onto the chassis, and then fit a big bow shackle,

what rating should i be looking at ideally for bow shackles??? 4 ton swl or higher???

    Would these suit my needs???

Bob, I tend to go for 14ton breaking rate. However, I am sure it will do you just fine mate. Just please make sure the recovery point on your truck is soild and on whoever is pulling you out or getting pulled out.

No use you taking all the correct steps for some dafty to clip you onto his tie down points.

A proper rated shackle ie Crosby, will have a seven to one safety factor so if you use a 4t swl you can put 28t on it before it will even think about breaking,
            but I dont think Crosby do a 4t normally 3.25 and 4.75.

I stuck a couple of these wee cheeky chaps on my truck, apparently one is enough for a single deck bus so I think two should do my truck.

would this be a good idea or bad idea to put on the front as a recovery point, as i have a tow ball mount on the front bumper

that would work fine if the tow point is good and strong.

yeah, ie, NOT 'the bumper' as your post.

Do you have a proper mount fixed to the chassis? A hard recovery jank has bent many a tow bar bracket when using the towball.

Tony those eyes are fixed into mouting blocks welded to the chassis legs, not the bumper
