  • New rear springs

Firstly let me begin by saying massive thanks to Phantom for the springs in the first place! and Mudskipper for all the help tea and free tool hire hehe.

    Wots in the box?

    Wahey!

So off to Mudskippers after a quick chat on the phone, seems I'm not the only one with new springs lol

Fettle fuss and sh!t bricks when the truck rolled forward an inch or two while it was all up in the air lol oops

Near side done, time for a quick

Before the off side, time for some compare and contrast.

Both done, new tyres big thanks to John(Mudskipper) KL71's mahahaha

Huge difference at the back, from sas to "wow I can crawl under here now !"

Not as tall as John but certainly a lot closer.

    Before.

    AFTER!

Need to do the front torsion bars next, looking a bit dragster-styley at the min lol.

    Lovin it

    Thanks again guys

    peace

When you had the springs side by side they didn't look that different but "wow" what a difference when they are on the truck.

    Nice work.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Cheers bro, the actual springs are not much longer, but the metal is half as thick again as the old ones, when we put the spring compressors on you had to work a lot harder to compress them compared to the old ones hehe.

Okies torsion bars done, thank you Nik An!mal_69 for the pointers and loan of tools, and not laughing too loudly when I wound one of them the wrong way LOL

Well so there we are, 16" rim to arch at the back 15" at the front, handling well and not too much wallow, infact feels much stiffer more possitive in bends now.

Looking superb. As you have raised the front, via torsion bars, I would suggest the next mod be a pair of manual hubs. Raising the front may put your cv's under a bit of strain.

./goes outside to look at CVs

Aye they are at more of an angle now, might wind them down an inch in the mean time.

Looks much better, anyway tea and a fag is the most important bit of any job manual hubs are the best way to go, cheap(ish) and dead easy to fit, just watch those little allen bolts, feckers round off easy,
Too young to die and too old to give a toss
