    ..making some rock sliders







    only tacked on at the mo' to see how they sit..need a couple of support bars in the outriggers too.

    thoughts & opinions..??

    Nice shape. Are you going to weld/fix tread plates on the tops?

        thats an option yea..not for me tho, trial rig all the way..hopefully gonna flog a few sets (to pay back the 'investment' in tools)

          Nice. Are you gonna brace them back to the chassis in several places along their length, not just weld them at the ends? Cant see them being strong enough if you dont.

          I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you dont know!

              yeaaaa..lol the actual 'slider' bit is 50x30mm box which is welded direct to chassis with gusseted 50x30 legs, the tube (CFS-cold drawn seamless) is then welded to the slider, not the chassis as it may appear. I'm going to add another 2 bracing tubes from the tube outrigger back to the actual slider, just need to sort my tube notcher out

              One thats done, I'll start testing to see if I can break em

              was a nice suprise yea, good to see you all. Will deffo have to get out soon yea..got shit loads to do this month tho; finish sliders, clear garage, fit new diff to cossie, strip and clean engine bay (pump up tyre..grrrr), finish laying floor in hall, prepare and deliver presentation on light portable pumps and prepare for competency test in the fire service..i.e move from being in my development phase to fully competant. Given i get one full day off/wk and theres only 3 wkends left..dont rekon I'll be out till next Bala, at least..lol

                I am so glad I am no longer in the job...all this new terminology 'competant this, phase that - needs and aspairations', I'm sure it used to work when we rescued folks and put out fires (without the correct colour surcoat and multiple pumps!)

                  lol..yea I know what you mean, it is frustrating at times. I've only been in a couple of yrs so I know no different really. Love hearing tales of 'the good ol' days' tho

                        Ill have a pair off you, no worries. They look real smart and a nice shape too. I hope your going to post some finished pics. Where about in North Wales are you ? Im often over there mooching about the mines.

                          Cool..going to be a few weeks before i can get the bender out again..cossie is in the garage for a wk or 2. We're up on the coast in the wonderful county of Conwy..you'll have to hook up with us for some playing out one wkend..

                            Heh I was up at t' allotment lad :P might not feel much like spring but it is and time for planting is now, got some high hopes for this years crops, will hopefully be more than we can eat, so if you and the Mrs fancy some free home grown veg this year your more than welcome.,
