  • Fitting anti-roll bar links with 2" suspension lift

    Hey,

Mechanic friend is about to start fitting my Roughtraxx 2" suspension lift kit (rear springs + shocks in each corner). I'll be wanting to hook the ARBs back up as will still do majority of driving on road. From reading various threads it looks like may need a bit of customization to fit the ARBs back on - either bodged to lengthen the links, sway bar spacers fitted, fabricated bracket or fit disconnects. Am I correct here and does this count for both the front and rear?

Any wisdom from previous experience appreciated,

    Stewart

if your sus lift is to make the vehicle stiffer then that negates the need for ARBs. ARBs are for makeing a soft sus stiff in the corners.

sure someone with far greater knowledge than me will be along soon with the correct answer to your question

Up to +2" the standard links will be fine.

Bushwacker, had the kit fitted today. The ARB rear links weren't long enough once the rear 2" longer shock's/springs were fitted - had to do a bit of chopping and welding to make them longer.

I found another thread on here the other night where a plate had to be fabricated after lift to refit the original ARB links (thumbnail below). Why is it you think the originals should be long enough with the lift to fit back as is? Not doubting what you are saying, just that my mechanic couldn't get them to hook back up at standard length and looks like not only case.

I have Landcruiser springs on the rear and they give 3" of lift.
The truck I have in the workshop at the moment has a 2" spring lift and standard ARB links.
Was your truck on the ground when the mechanic tried to bolt the end links back on? (i.e. not supported on axle stands or jack)

That I can't answer at the mo, but will find out. What I suppose I could do is jack it up, unbolt the links, let it down off the jack and see if they would then fit unbodged like you suggest.

Also, are you running longer than standard shocks along with the springs?

Do you have any experience of sway bar disconnects such as the ones on www.4crawler.com? Do they act as a straight substitute that can be quickly disconnected for off road use to get the extra articulation, or is there some other tweaks that have to be done?
