new to offroading, but have a surf 3.0, what mods

after going out with my mate in his little sj the other day and havin a right laugh. im thinkin of modding my surf so i can join him. plus where i live seems there are loads of decent lanes to drive.
its a 1994 3.0 manual surf.
obviously a body/sus lift is needed. what do people go for with a compromise between cost/performance. wants to be aimed more toward the off road side of things as the truck aint used that much on the road.
tyres/wheels. whats the biggest tyres people fit, or the popular sizes used.
anything else i should think about.
i own my own buisness as mechanic/welder fabricator/ and specialise is rollcage fabrication for race cars, so i can make my own, winch bumpers, rollcages, rock sliders etc etc. and fit all mechanical items myself.
im sure u must get many questions like this one, i did search but found nothin concrete, so i apoligise in advance if my question annoys some of u lol.

hi welcome to the forum,it depends on two things really your wallet and how stupid you want to go,to start with i would go for a 2" body lift,then tweak the torsion bars add a 2" ball joint lift and a 2" diff drop kit.that will sort the front out,then fit some hd80 landcruiser springs,and modified spring cups,together with an adjustable panhard rod,remove both front and rear a/r/bs.get hold of some +4 es3000 procomp shocks for the rear and some +2 es3000 procomp shocks for the front,then you can fit some 10x15 steel wheels and up to 33" tyres.did i miss anything.

Your cheapest/easyist option is a 2" body lift, a 2" suspension lift and 33" mud tyres, 4" total lift is the minimum for 33's, any more than 33's will req a pretty dramitic lift, some on here have dont it tho, i've just done a write up on the site linked below, have a look and see wot you think, i fitted land criuser rear spring which give ya about 3" on the back, total of 5" and if you need a little more on the front you can wind up the torsion bars a bit to add to the 4" already mentioned,
