    [QUOTE=Pine12;560936]Popeye, your truck looks great!

I assume then (excuse me for repeating all this again!) that you have the following:

Land cruiser springs and alloy seats (+3) on the rear
Ball joint spacers (+2) on the front
    1.5 inch body lift
    33 inch tyres x 12.5?

I could then space the front diff down by an inch which will lower the angle of attack for the cv joints.

I think that my standard surf wheels are 15 * 6j - does that sound right? And i assume i cannot get 33 x 12.5 on them without buying new wheels in 8j width?

Thanks for the compliment, your dead right on my set up above, apart from the body lift, i have 2" spacers, it was just that Nez said he already had a 1.5" body lift,
your are correct i think (although Rodders will confirm) that you'll have a job keeping 33's on a 6J, i think it was PoP's that got em on 7j's and no probs so i could be wrong, PM Rodleach and ask, he's the tyre guru, my rims are 8J and i always thought they were 10's till i found the stickers on the inside rim,
i didnt take a pic of the bit to grind off but i'll try and get one tomorrow, it's not a big job but just did'nt like cutting those wishbones, i do have pic's of when i fitted the BJ spacers, i'll dig em out and post em here if you need em, cheers ian

Forgot i have the drawing's Roy little did for the BJ spacer and diff drop spacers, and the arb i think

Last thing, any chance of a pick of where you have to grind the upper wishbone?

I was going to ask the same question as nez. Also is it best to wait until i can afford all the components; springs, shocks, spacers, wheels, tyres, etc; or could i get away with the 'lift' and standard tyres (30 x 9.5)! for a while?
With that amount of lift (4" ish) you'll get 33's on but it all depends on the offset of the rims you have, standard rims (surf alloys) will be ok as will shallow dish rims, but if you have deep dish or spacers they might just catch and you'll need to hack away some inner arch and do away with the mudflaps,
trial and error on that one! i had to cut away some metal on the front of the sill and beat the seam over to stop it fouling but i've reversed the rims on my wheel so there quite deep dish and the arc of turn is more outward than a shallow rim would be if ya see what i mean, did it cos i liked the "look" and it did away with the 30mm spacers i used to have, makes the tyres stick out a bit but had no probs so far with the cops, MOT bloks had to make a comment but it's not an MOT issue
If you need more lift than the 2" sus and 2" body you could buy a pair of +2" replacement torsion bars, you'll end up with about 6" lift then, any more than that you'll need specialist bracket lifts as done by LA Supertrux etc, megga cash, also if you are doing this sus lift i'd reccomend you fit a pair of manual freewheeling hubs or fit equlivant lift blocks to the ARB and front diff, this reduces the sever angle of the half shafts caused bt the sus lift, which will wear out the boots in no time at all,
a few pics, the lockers and ya can see the depth of the rim ya get by reversing these 3 peice split rims, second the metal i had to cut away, and how it looks with 4" on the front and 5"ish on the back, makes it a bit arse end high but i useually have the wifes mobility scooter in the back which weighs a bit, anyway the fecker just about fits in the garage so thats my limit,

if you want to go up to 33's you'll need a minimum of 4" lift overall, so with a 1,1/2" body kit on you can wind the torsion bars up a bit to give you another 1" or so gain on the front, that'll give you 2" -2 1/2" front lift, costs f##kall

then you need some 2" balljoint spacers (someone on here still makes em i think) cost dunno! about 40-60 quid, or make em yourself, i have the drawing dimentions if you need em, these fit between the top wishbone and controll arm (swivel) you'll need new longer bolts and also need to grind some of the underside of the top wishbone as spacers over 1" foul a bit, not a biggy tho,
thats the front lifted, the rears are more strightforward, either get +2" springs from milners or roughtrax or a pair of landcriuser springs, these will give you about 3" of rear lift, but with these you'll need the big top alloy seats or they wont sit properly, believe me i tried,
haveing done this you'll need to fit +2" shocks and get the front wheel camber/tracking etc redone, about it, aint gone into detail re actually fitting/doing this but if i can help with tips etc once you've decided let me know,
regarding "how high can i go" how deep are your pockets?
la supertrucks will do whatever you want at a price, failing that contact "phantom" and see what advice he has to offer, he has a monster surf,

started a topic suspension lift - whats else is needed?

suspension lift - whats else is needed?

hi, i am looking for a suspension lift, in particular the roughtrax 2" lift kit.

i drive car on roads every day with a little off roading at local venues and i need to know,

1/ is 2" the best option,
2/ what is involved in fitting, is it a straight swap or do i need to mod anything?
3/ whats the highest lift i can do and what mods would be involved?

    i have a 1.5" body lift already, 31x10.5 x 15 wheels otherwise standard.

    thanks all.
Working...
