The fuel cat won't make a jot of difference to fuel consumption/economy. You've adapted your driving style to meet your expectations. Nothing more.

Matt, honestly my driving style has been consistant since owning the truck, did'nt fit the cat till about a year after buying the surf so it's not something i fitted streight away.

I know there is alot people who think it a load of B*****KS & TBH i also thought the same, but i got it for nothing so i thought i'd give it a go "nothing to loose type thing" & for me it works.

        No it doesn't work.

There is NO scientific evidence to support it, other than 'expert' testimony - generally sponsored by the manufacturer ie "there was a Spitfire fitted with one in WW2!!!" - so f*ckin what??? I fitted my truck with Melton Mowbray pies!

With anything like this, people tend to invent reasons as to why it's worked to convince themselves they aint wasted time and money.

It's precisely the same a 'pro-vitamins' in hair products, 'pro-namel' in toothpase, vibrating mascara brushes, solid gold speaker cables for hifi, solid gold fuses for in car audio etc etc.

Its just another marketing man's spin on a useless product to encourage people to part with hard earned.

Still, it *probably* wont do any harm - unless it breaks up and blocks your injectors, bu99ers your fuel pump or something...

To be honest before mine was fitted my average was 21mpg, after it became 21.05mpg. With mine being a heated cat, it was very usefull when I was running veg. However where the surf doesn't move for a fortnight at a time she's running pure diesel now, so the cat is surplus (takes up alot of room on the bulkhead).

I was relying on Apache seeing the thread and responding too. You think I'm dismissive of things. He makes me look like an amateur.

Seriously though, you will find that the cat itself isn't the cause of your gains. (A fuel heater will come in handy though). It's like the K&N filter thread over on the Oz site at the moment. Yes, I broddled that thread, (rather subtly, might I add), too.

Not without reason though. Very few people question what they are told by TV (not talking about fuel cats now).

Buy dettol because if you dont, your kids will die if they eat anything they dropped on the kitchen worktop. Thats a fave of mine.

Or shampoo that 'works in 3 ways'. Why??? Shampoo that cleans your hair, makes breafast then puts the dishes in the dishwasher???

Ad men have to make up stuff to make an every day product stand out from the competitors, yet people must believe this shit because the ads continue! They must work or they wouldn't spend money on them!

www.hiluxsurf.co.uk - works in 17 ways, satisfies your wife sexually, and makes your car faster AND more economical by running it on water!!!

You're preaching to the choir with me mate.

I tend to compact the point you make a tad with a simple sentence. Approx. 95% of people are gullible fools who can be made to believe anything.

I really love the t1t-lippers. Most people suffer from blatant stupidity and gullibility on a daily basis. Simple fact. You can take that as you will.

I couldn't give a toss which side of the stupidity/gullibility fence you drop on, but obviously it bothers you. Not my problem, and hence don't care.

Cheers. It wasn't intended as an argumentative statement. Merely a simple observation from the occasions when I do venture out into public.

Mate, if everyone was in agreeance with each other it would be boring.
