Fuel cat questions

            The ones on the side are for the coolent to heat the fuel.
            To be honest I got no difference at all, but then I've spent hundreds trying to get better fuel returns and no matter what I do she returns about 20 to 22 regardless to driving (unles I go over 3000rpm of course and then I can just watch the needle go down.

              Right, i think ive sussed it out.

              The fuel cat i have is the standard type with 1 inlet & 1 outlet.

              The way im going to fit it is to take off the outlet pipe from the fuel filter & connect it to one end of the cat & then add another piece of pipe from the filter to the other end the cat.

              So basically im fitting it between the fuel filter to the injector unit, does that sound about right or am i gunna bugger my engine?

              Also does it matter which way round it goes cos there are no direction arrows on it.

                use the inlet from the filter to go to the fuel cat. This way the filter will pick up any crap from manufacturing that in the cat.

                so it goes tank-cat-filter-pump.

                    Was just passing through, and it was htere...

                    they used to have arrows on them, but it makes little difference, they are the same end to end, fuel just flows over the catalyst thingys inside.

                        Well, just fitted it & been for a spin, no leaks "YET" & all seems fine.
                        I shall report back once ive done a few runs in it to see what happens.

                          Sorry in advance for going on a bit about this fuel cat but i have one last question.

                          Ive mounted it on the bulkhead but the pickup pipe from the tank to the cat is touching the two coolant pipes that go through the bulkhead to the matrix & the cat is getting quite hot after a run.
                          Do you think this will cause a problem?

                            I'm not sure with your model as it's not the heated version.

                            But mine gets hot because it's heated by the coolent, so wouldn't have thought that it was a problem.

                              I was kinda thinking it would be ok but always best to get a second opinion.

                              If anything does go wrong i can put the truck back to its original set up in a matter of minutes but hopefully it won't come to that.

                                An update:

                                Since fitting the fuel cat i have definatly noticed a difference in fuel consumption. Im roughly getting between 50 & 70 more km per tank, depending on driving style, so in my opinion these things do work, well on my truck anyway.


                                P.S Just been reading through this thread & can't help but notice, what's happened to sancho?
