What about the connections under the bonnet? Any pics/instuctions?

I'd give it a go as my wing is buggered anyway, just wondering how watertight it all is at the airbox.

If you are interested I am making a snorkel at the moment based on one of these Southdown heads.
I have made modifications though as the angle of the head suits the steep windscreen of a LR so I have made a new elbow that suits the Surf and allows it to rotate 360 degrees. I have also bought enough flexible hose to make 5 snorkels so once I have proved this first one out I can make some more and supply it as a kit with instructions.
I will let you know after xmas as I hope to have it all sorted then.
Are you looking to have one fitted before the TOR Herts/Essex roadbook trip?

Right! Decided to have a dry run taking my wing off today, in preparation for doing this myself. Not done anything like this before, but have the tools, and the patience (I hope)...

However! Couldn't get the ###### wing off! I undid all the 10mm bolts on the top, the one behind the passenger door, the one behind the indicator housing, and all bolts I could see under the wheel arch. The top moved nicely about 60mm out, but just couldn't find where it was pinching. Found a 12mm bolt behind a hole in the mudguards on, took that off, but all it did was loosen the bumper a little, and then I noticed it had nothing to do with the wing! Whilst underneath though, I spotted another bolt behind the bumper!! How the hell I get to it without taking the bumper off I don't know...

Anyone who has taken the wing off, if you could give me any pointers I would be eternally grateful! If you can provide pictures even more so!

I really really want to do this, without going in like a bull in a china shop and damaging anything, so any tips/help would be brilliant.

Once I get the wing off, I know I'll be happy with everything else, just want to make sure I don't destroy it.

                  Cheers,

                  Jon.

You'll need to take off the mudflap and theres a bolt under there as i remember, (been a while) as for cutting you'll see the best place to route the snorkel tube through when the wings off, you'll prob have to go through the double skinning if your useing ridgid tube other wise it'll foul the wing, rubber,s better if you have some as ya can "squash" it a bit,
pics are the off side but its the same both sides, hope they help.

Cheers for this Popeye, I did see the one under there, right in front of the side step... Was a git to get off I see you have the bumper off too... Is that the only way to get the wing off? Also, was it a big job to get that off?

                      Thank again,

                      Jon.

I did mine while i had the front all stripped so i guess it made it a lot easier to remove the wing(s) the bumper is fixed by four (17mm i think) bolts to the chassi and two outrigger type brackets to the outer bumper ends, i think the bolts on the end of these also go through the wing but not 100% certain, you will have to remove the inner wing splash plastic panels although i seem to remember theres a hole to gain access to those bracket bolts, bumpers not too bad to remove as long as ya give the bolts a good WD40 ing if you still have the front vallance fitted that makes stuff a little more fiddley, i'll see if i have some pics of the bumper fixings etc, think they are of when i fitted the lift breckets tho but they should give you some idea of whats what

right! only pics i have is of the lift bracket, not a lot of use for the ends tho, they do show where the front brackets bolt on (the two shiny bolts) the big beige brackets useually will come off with the bumper,
as for the ends i think thers a bolt behind the little wing extension that bolts(one bolt and two clips) onto the bumper and valence ends, theres a hole in the inner plastic shield to get at this (10mm) hope ya get it off ok and more importantly "back on"

That's great mate, much appreciated! Certainly gives me a lot more to go on. Will report back at some point in the next couple of weeks once I've had a chance to get it done!

                          Thanks again,
