  • tyres - body lift help

    hi all.
ive got a 4" lift on my surf but it does not seem quite big enough (my girlfriend can still get in basicaly),what size tyres would i be able to fit as at the moment im running 31" and they look quite small. im also thinking of a 2" body lift, just wondering what mods i will have to do to pull this off and what size tyres i could fit then.

    thanks will

with the 4" lift you can fit 33x12.50x15's on
if you fit a 2" bodylift then i think you can fit 35's but not certain tho.
Either way you will lose power by adding big tyres.
You will notice the biggest power loss if you have a 2.4 but the 3l you notice it but its like driving a standard 2.4 power wise i think personally.

How was it lifted? Personally that dosnt look like a 4" lift to me.

Tyre sizes are an odd one,

Here 33x12.50 is whats advised. But ive seen them on 35x12.50 on a 4" lift aswell!!

Cant say about clearance or rubbing issues. The biggest pain is down to offsets. the more negative offset the more the rim sticks out an thus the turning 'arch' is bigger meaning more clearance is needed. Its not the height that causes most problems is the width.

If you lifted the surf , what parts did you use? Or was it already lifted when you got it? If it wasnt you who lifted it then id be sure to work out exactly how much lift you have before you choose body lift height.

Hi mate, mines around 5" overall but looks much taller than yours. I'd agree with Rod and suggest its not 4", which is good in a way as it means you can go further!

Have a closer look at mine next time you see it, or PM me and arrange to pop round and compare.

          hi all.
the reason that i thort it was a 4" lift was because i was told so, oh well. im not very technicaly minded so how could i measure the lift?
          thanks will.

Probably easier to just look under the truck for bodylift spacers, spring spacers, BJ spacers etc.

If it's had any amount of bodylift, you'll see daylight (providing it's daytime) when looking in the wheel arch, between the body and chassis rail, as indicated in the pic.

never noticed any daylight there, so i dont recon thats its got a body lift.

                      Right, You will need :-

                      LC80 rear springs
Adjustable panhard rod/panhard rod lowering bracket
ARB drop brackets (provided you wish to keep them)
                      Procomp ES9000 shocks +3"
                      Wound torsion bars
                      Procomp ES9000 shocks +2"
                      2" body lift + bumper+rad brackets
                      Extended brake lines

Those parts (i think ive included them all) Will give you a 5" rear lift and a 4" front lift , ball joint spacers will give you extra lift if you wish for 5" all round.

You can get a 3" body lift if you wanna go crazy high but a lot more items need sorting out, fuel filler necks etc etc.

The approx total for parts is about £500 + fitting, be it a crate of beer for some lads off here or £xxx for a garage to sort it.

Then you need 33" tyres. assuming your rims are at LEAST 15"x8" then you can fit 33's on without too much worry.

www.camskill.com offer some great prices on a 33x12.50r15 tyre. Kumhos are fairly cheap, If you can cough up for BFG MT/AT then they should last longer. That site also has 35x12.50r15 with £605 for 5 BFG MT delivered.

sounds good, i will set about finding them parts as soon as i know what has been done to mine.
where would you say the best places are to go for these parts?
