  • Solid axle swap

Hi Tony I remember reading a while back that you were doing a SAS job on one of your trucks, hows it going? I ask as i've been a bit heavy handed with my lifted IFS pickup and bent the drivers side mounts back a bit! and a SAS would solve a lot of probs, been looking at the allpro kit but the steering would be a problem, how were you getting round it? hope all is going well.

Forgot to say - one of the best recent SAS has been this one

      http://www.yotatech.com/f152/my-94-4runner-sas-130215/

He is a member of this site but I haven't seen him on here for a while. The pics of the high steer mod are very clear.

He's in Barcelona (ke?) - pop over for a looksee........

Its £400 somet with the leaf springs.

But considering the 'proper' way to lift IFS via the brackets etc is about £900 for the kit.

I think you could SAS for less then that... maybe.... perhaps!?

If you had access to a decent workshop and were able to fab lots of the stuff - yes you could do it cheaper.

You would need a decent donor Hilux pickup (needed for the axles anyway) and try and remove as much as possible to reuse. You would need to balance the cost of doing this and making up the required components against just buying new and the job taking less time.

If its a 'filler' type project ie fit in between other work and wheel it out of the way and take a few months then would be cheaper. If its on a ramp in someones garage then I think it would be new kit and get it done fast.

I've been assesing this project for a while. Trail Gear recently quoted me $2700 for the complete front and rear kits delivered. OUCH!

A total wreck non running, no MOT, no tax etc Toy pickup went on ebay a couple of weeks back for £650 (bl00dy Clarkson!). Add it all together plus labour and this is one costly project.
