Under slung spare sits in 2 locating brackets like this ( ) with a 2" drop at each corner.
I needed to take one bracket off, grind off the drops, hammerite and refit. You can't just remove the bracket as it spaces the tyre off the chassis. I cut the RHS one as the left keeps the tyre away from the exhaust. With the wheel back under and located up against the LHS bracket its about 1/2" from the panhard rod and 1" from the rear bumper.
