Snorkel comparo...

Here you go, having fitted both types now, its a good time for Surf snorkel roundup.....













Personally, the TJM looks nicer overall, but Safari is slightly easier to fit as it goes straight through inner and outer wing in a line. The TJM has a dog leg hose inside the inner wing, so its shorter externally, and probably joins up to the air box easier.

The TJM looks nicer overall, as its less bulky, but the safari looks a little nicer up the A pillar.

FYI, there is very little difference in price, or fitting charge.

STUPID QUESTION TIME!! when driving in the rain does water not get sucked in to the snorkel? Ive seel a few LR's with the end rount the other way thought this is why????

There is a diagram somewhere on the site that shows that any rain going in is turned into a fine mist which evaporates before reaching the filter . There are also a couple of drain vents in the head of the snorkel if I remember .

Dont *seem* to, and I've driven in some flippin heavy rain since fitting it.

There's nowt stopping you turning the head round on the Safari one (presumably the TJM likewise) if you feel the need.

During the recent downpours I had one particular drive home where the front of the truck was continually drenched due to standing water being thrown up over the top. When I got home I checked the air filter and it was barely damp. (Safari snorkel)

I prefer the looks of the Safari - mainly cos the head's not angled downwards and it's not joined with a shiny jubilee clip !

But if they're being given away I'll settle for either one - as long as it fits a 3rd Gen

Snorkel choices

I've had suppliers tell me that the TJM and the Safari snorkels are both not designed for the 3.0 L engine and that you need to be a bit creative with the ducting to the filter.
Is this what people have found out?

Also I've found this site which has another make of snorkel, but again don't list one for the KZN130. Any thoughts???
