  • 2" or 3" springs !!!/ shockers

I have just bought some springs of ebay, The guy who i have got them of says they are 3" When i asked if they are landcruiser springs he said no they are for a surf, Can you get 3" for a surf or might they be only 2" ?? What my concern is If they are 3" will i need uprated shockers or not ?? And same question if they are only 2" . Then is it just a matter of lifting the torsion bar up at the front to get it same height all round!

The LandCruiser ones are (usually) powder coated in light blue, they're also a larger diameter than the Surf springs. You can get springs made up for any car at any length, so it's hard to say for sure.

For the shocks, it depends on what you use the car for. If you don't off-road, you may get away without changing the shocks. The main reason for matching lengths is so allow for the extra downward travel, and that's only an issue on very bumpy roads/dirt tracks etc.

For the torsion bar, if you don't make any other adjustments, you shouldn't lift the front more than 1.5inches on the bars. Beyond that you'll take the CVs too far out of line. If you fit some front diff spacers (dropping the diff down an inch) you can take this to 2inches and be ok. However, at that point you start hitting against the rubber bump stops.

I will be doing some offroading its a case of when i feel like it. Normaly after ive washed it then it gets up to the bonnet is 541T. Most of my driving is on the road though. If it was just a 2" spring lift would i get away with the standard shocks, As i use the hard setting for when im towing and find it useful + It will be easier and cheaper. lol.

If you can only put the torsion bar up 1.5" for saltey would it be am easier bet for me to get some spring spacers to get the front up and level with what the front will be.

I think you need to fit your rear springs first to see how much lift they give, then sort the front out after that. It may just a case of adjusting the torsion bars or fit ball-joint spacers.

Have you fitted your BJ spacers yet? What kind of job was it?

Nope, I need to fit diff spacers first otherwise the front driveshafts will be almost vertical!
