  • Lightbar wiring

As the trend seems to be towards lightbars lately, and me having plenty of time and no cash, I decided to fish around in the shed and see what I came up with.
I had an old beam antenna from my ham radio days and the 25mm square boom looked ok for the crossbar so that was cut to length and polished up.
The brackets were the aluminium top from a homemade battery charger, this was stripped of paint and also given a good polish.
I had 4 small blue spotlights mounted on the A Bar which filled up with muddy water at Castleford a few weeks ago so I decided they would be better off above mud height.
When all this lot was thrown together I came up with what I think is a novel way of routing the wires and that is down the door frame behind the seal, there is surprisingly plenty of space without obstructing the door closing.
Not wanting to drill the roof itself I decided to fit the brackets in the gutter and rivet them to the body, again behind the door seal, also this means that if I decide to do away with the bar then I just drill out the rivets and a bit of silicone in the holes and no sign of it ever having been there.
Just needs a bit of black paint on the wires where they show between the door and bonnet.
These pics probably describe it better than me.
