Got the Bullet's K&N on now......

Thanks to Ashley and Lisa, (it was a wedding pressie!!) Nice thing is with it there, our ARB Compressor for the locker will fit behind the battery nicely. If I can persuade Linda to let me cut a hole in the bonnet I want to fit a small scoop over it for a little forced induction at speed.

I guess the 2.4 will fit similarly, who wants one....................

          MMmmmmm now theres an idea...

          not.

Upside - nice rumbling noise, and in a much better position than the original intake for going through water (and as the truck is quite lifted too I'm not that worried about flooding her)

downside - screeches loudly when turbo spools up (next step - Tony is going to work on some soundproofing.)

screeching is partly because of the airflow... with the civics, we tried a few until we found an akimoto paper filter that had a wave guide on the inside of the filter to flow the air in... and all the edginess went away. It just roared then...

If anyone has heard a B16A2 with Mugen and Spoonsport cams... and freeflow exhausts and bored out throttle bodies... at 8K revs... they'll know what I mean... Hmm those were the days... what a wonderful sound that was....

Anyone heard any news about this 4.0l V8 that is supposed to be going in a Surf at Supertrux?

The screech is solved, we boxed the filter with some old sound proofing from behind, engine side and above leaving the front open to gulp in air and all you can hear now is deeper intake noise and its much nicer.

I'll make a proper 'filter chamber' for it later so it looks nice, like the proper K&N cold air kits.......

He hadn't started it last time I spoke to Nigel, but he's excited about it.

would it not be better if you did not have all that pipe work which does not do much, is there no way you guys with diesels could not move the filter to the other side of the engine thus reducing the length of the air intake hose. Does not each bend lose a bit of power/ efficiency and I know you diesel boys need all the top end power you can get to go faster than us petrol boys!

I'm looking at doing just that, by removing the drivers side battery and just having one big badass battery on the passenger side. Then a cold air feed set-up straight to a filter like the K&N, fitted to the turbo.

                            nice,
If you wanted I am sure you could fit 2 batteries on the other side where that big air box used to sit!

so are we... perhaps a fitting kit... and a bell housing that will mate the V8 to a manual box.

Then off to find some half cut Soarers.
