I is thinking of getting a rear bumper made up soon. I would like a twin tubular style design, with a towball mounting aswell. So would have to be a pretty substantial piece of kit.

If anyone would possibly be interested in one or like to see the kind of thing i have in mind lemme know and i'll see what i can do with photoshop.

No idea on price yet but would be a friend making it up in his engineering factory so shouldn't be too bad, materials plus whatever he pays his staff to make them timewise i would have thought. and maybe a couple of pint's for himself.

Looking at the design of that bumper, leads onto one of my
weird ideas that I've been having for a while. Upto just, everyone
I've run it past has told me I'm weird, (as if I didn't already know ).
A bumper like that, with sliders inplace of the side steps, but with a
curved piece around the wheel arch between the end of the bumper
and sliders as a solid wheel arch extension replacement, and whip
the fibreglass ones off. Is it really such a weird idea?

          Weird??

Not if you don't mind driving something that loks like a surf sized bumper car around. IMO

Or have i mis-interpreted what you mean??

Nope. No misinterpretation. Problem with the standard arches is
that they don't like being smacked. Metal tubing connected to the
chassis whilst being slightly displaced from the bodywork would be
the ultimate arch and side panel protection.

It'd be one hell of a sexy looking clothes line, though.

It has been done in the USA , they do alot of rock crawling and I have seen pics of many Surfs with rock sliders under the sills linked over the rear arches like you say and then welded to a double tube rear bumper with 1/4 panels tubes aswell . Not a full EXO but like wot you are descibing . The USA Surfs (Runners) dont have the wide arches , just narrow body styles .

ARB do the arch protection bars as a standard product for a lot of vehicles, but last time I checked thay didn't have any to fit a Surf

Anybody got any pics of those American ones? I've been
looking for yonks and not seen one yet. Nice pic, Vince.
                        That's one I haven't seen before.

                        pics, I can prove it.
